I have it in my head to script scanimage so I can scan a crapton of old bills etc. I swear I frittered away an hour trying to get scanimage to work. The whole problem? Perms. Always perms. I guess when the device is detected it gets setup with restrictive perms. Now to figure out why.

I haven’t done any poking about with this but it seems any flash based video player won’t fullscreen with compiz running. Bit annoying.

I didn’t see this until I saw strang formatting in my blog posts. The latest scribefire has an option to “insert an invisible image for tracking purposes” and it’s turned on by default. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD scribefire. Turned off and removing from previous posts.

I kept getting this damned rattle from the left speaker. I couldn’t remember if it was the speaker that had come unplugged or not. Turns out it was, it was still plugged in but one of the the screws had come loose. Amazing the difference one little screw makes.

Because I’m a huge nerd, I went and enabled the Ancient Rome 3d layer in google earth. Holy crap, they were not kidding about the system requirements. It’s still churning away, but then, it is loading an entire effing city. Doesn’t seem to have anti aliasing turned on though, I’ll have to look into that.

I don’t recall offhand if I’ve bitched about this before, if I have, oh well.
I’ve been trying to find a bittorrent client for the server for ages. Light weight, doesn’t need a gui, but needs a web interface AND scheduling.
Torrentflux/bart is just a pain, it really is. And for some reason it’s not actually downloading anything now, fuck if I know why. It doesn’t have any scheduling and no command line tools to fake it. Oh, and it’s a pain to setup the database.
Transmission + clutch work fairly well, but no scheduling! The transmission-remote works well enough to fake scheduling through cron. Unfortunatly clutch looks terrible and doesn’t display quite right for me making it hard to use.
Clutch also doesn’t display at all on the DS whereas torrentflux at least tries.
Stupid darn things.

Since the computer crashed again, something with windows losing the USB system, I decided to clear out my firefox tabs and see how much ram it was using. Idle it was at 99mb with just five or six tabs open. WAY too much. A good place to start is the plugins, and sure enough, as soon as I disabled safe search (which I don’t use anyways) ram usage dropped down to an even 50mb. I think scribefire may be chewing up some more. Really, I should just blow away the profile and start over but meh.

I finally got around to spending the gift cards I had, but it turns out that you can only use three cards at once. I really don’t see the point behind this restriction, four maybe? It’s mind boggling.
