Call me kooky

I finally decided to clean out my filling cabinet. I’ve found the manual to my old ass cdplayer along with a whole bunch of other crazy old stuff.

A contentious debate for sure, but this list has some good points. I don’t agree with it all, especially configuring everything with a GUI. It’s nice to have this, but it has a habit of making people rather lazy. Some people I know refer to admining windows computers as “point and click administration”. And if you’ve ever tried to configure something on a windows, or even mac, machine you’ll know that a GUI isn’t always better or helpful.

Friday I stood on a corner wearing a sign and waved at people while baking in the sun. Suckage but it was money. I had maybe ten minutes of music on my phone…. that I listened to for four hours. I hate the playlist on my phone now.

Spent the day trying to get an industrial control computer to stop being stupid and run. Several serial to rj11 jobbies later we find out the fucked pin diagram is wrong, and the modem to the outside was unplugged. Doesn’t matter much though, turns out the memory for the computer is toasted, nothing to boot from as such. Guess that’s what happens when 440v goes to ground.

For whatever reason, chase likes to keep transactions in pending limbo for an annoyingly long time. And of the three pending, two are electronic debits against the account. I just don’t understand the slow down.

Fridays suck. Got up later than I shoulda, no cereal for breakfast. Got down the road and something just wasn’t right. Had to come back home to change the tire. Got into the office and got a job quick, spent the day shoveling a walled in patio garden in high humidity. So high sweating did nothing. When I finaly got my boots and socks off my feet were pruned. Got back to the office to find a parking ticket. The ticket was half my paycheck.

Ugh, slashdot’s latest page design is annoying. It’s proabably cool to some people but I hate how it screws with the scroll bar. I scroll down a few articles so the scroll bar is at “the end of the page”, THEN it “loads” the rest of the page and screws everything up. UGH.

I’ve been working at the labor ready lately. Already got two jobs and I just signed up. Unfortunelly I’m not as young or fit as I once was. My first job was repacking pallets of bottled water in the back of a hot ass trailer. The other guys on that job kicked as and we had a good system going. Still broke my back though.
The second job, yesterday afternoon was unloading a moving truck in 80F heat. Not fun and I ran out of steam quick :(.

I drug out the archery gear since it was a fantastic day and I haven’t done any in ages. I had expected my shoulders to give out first but my freaking fingers gave up instead. Ah well, it was nice with a slight breeze and all the trees blooming.

I was at safeway tonight and noticed a culigans “bottle your own water” kiosk. I thought, “Who’d do that? It’s probably just tap water anyways.” And sure enough, someone walked up and started filling a jug. Weird.
